The city of Cebu,  Philippines is a fascinating city.  After arriving in Mactan Airport,  Cebu is just a few minutes taxi ride.  Of course,  traffic depends on the time of day,  but it is bearable compared to the traffic in Manila.  Jeepneys and trikes are everywhere,  and also buses and taxis.  It is about a 1 hour plane ride from Manila.

About 3 million people live here.  It is a very modern city,  with many skyscrapers and highrises.  New construction is everywhere,  and business is booming.  Nearby,  worldfamous Boracay Resort beckons to tourists,  and beautiful beaches are just minutes away.  Cebu is in the Visayan Islands,  speaking Visayan,  Illongo and other closely related languages. 

The people are very friendly, and are always smiling.  Depending on the time of year,  fiestas are celebrated in every town,  and barangay.  Of course most people here are Catholic,  so religion plays a big part in their lives.  To reach the other islands,  most people travel by ferry.  I love vacationing  in Cebu.  It is my second home.
